Cesar Pelli & Associates designed the postmodern office tower rising at 200 Vesey Street in Downtown Manhattan in 1986. It is the tallest tower in the Brookfield Place commercial complex and is also known as the Three World Financial Center and the American Express Tower. The tower was built to house the headquarters of American Express and the now-defunct Lehman Brothers. It is similar in construction to 225 Liberty Street; however, 200 Vesey Street is capped by a solid pyramid, while 225 Liberty features a dome-shaped roof.
